Adding apple classroom activities introduces kids to fall-themed life cycles, harvesting, and so much more. Use a combination of math, literacy, science, STEM, and crafts to engage students this fall in apple exploration.

Welcome to Apple Week!
There’s just something about early fall that makes apples feel like they belong in the classroom. Maybe it’s the bright reds and greens popping against the bulletin board, or the way a simple apple taste test can turn into a fun-filled science experiment. Whatever it is, kids light up when apples are part of the day.
It’s such an easy theme to sprinkle into everything, including reading, writing, math, art, and science. And because it’s so hands-on, kids don’t even realize how much they’re learning while they’re counting seeds, writing apple-inspired stories, or creating little apple craft masterpieces.
All of these ideas are pulled together in the Apple Fun Pack, designed to make it easy for teachers to dive into this fall theme. The pack is filled with ready-to-print, cross-curricular activities that bring apples into your lesson plans—no extra prep or hunting for activities required.

Apple-Themed Literacy & Writing Activities
Let’s get started with literacy activities! There are some great resources to add to centers and small groups!
Apple Book Companion
If you’ve read The Bad Apple, you know it’s great for discussions with kids. Read the story and complete the book companion to extend your time in the story. Use the adorable craft afterward to wrap up the activity.
Apple Writing Prompts & Craftivity
If you want to combine writing and apples, try these simple writing prompts: How to Grow an Apple Tree, My Favorite Apple Food, or How to Make Apple Pie. Use the themed writing paper and crafts to make your apple displays amazing!
Field Trip Extension
The “My Apple Orchard Field Trip” booklet is perfect for documenting a real or virtual field trip. Discuss the pages before the field trip and then fill them out either during the journey or afterward! Kids will get to explore the life cycle, how apples grow, and what’s needed to tend to an orchard.
Apple Vocabulary
As students learn about apples and orchards, create vocabulary cards to reinforce their learning. Talk about what students have done with apples, what they’ve baked or tasted, to start fun discussions.
Apple Math Activities for the Classroom
Math is so much fun when apples are involved. Try these exciting fall activities with kids as the weather cools down.
Graphing & Estimation
Get students excited about math by providing them with small cubes or blocks to compare to apples. If you have classroom scales, place an apple on one side and objects on the other to learn about weight.
Enjoy the taste of sweet and sour apples, along with your favorite graph class treats. Put up an anchor chart to record how many kids like each kind! Talk about the results afterward!
Counting & Matching
Use cute apple trucks and numerals to practice counting and matching quantities. Laminate the pieces to use in pocket charts or give student their own set as puzzles to solve.
Apple Science & STEM Activities for Curious Minds
Tap into student curiosity by mixing science and STEM with fall themes.
Sink or Float Apple Experiment
This is a simple hands-on activity with an observation page to record predictions and results. Hold a discussion and write down predictions before placing apples in a tub of water to see if they sink or float. Record what happens on the included sheets.
Apple Exploration & Classification
Set up a simple apple tasting station with 3–4 types of apples (Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Fuji, and other favorites). Give each student a small slice of each apple and let them observe, taste, and describe the apples using all five of their senses.
Apple Stacking STEM Challenge
Use the book Ten Apples Up on Top to challenge students to stack apples and test their balance skills. Kids get to record what happens and how they work together to make their tower taller. It’s a great activity for teamwork and problem-solving!
Arts, Crafts & Life Cycle Activities
Fall isn’t complete until you’ve done some apple crafts with students and displayed them on the walls of the classroom. Use these fun fall art ideas to get started!
Apple Life Cycle Flip Book
Teach apple growth with a flip book and visuals. Students will be able to label the parts of the life cycle and color the pages. They will love taking them home to show off to their guardians.
Directed Drawing of an Apple
Invite students to follow directions to draw an apple! This is a great extension, morning meeting, or following directions activity. It helps students learn to follow directions, and they make great bulletin board displays, too.
Apple Hat Craft
Refresh students’ memory of the apple life cycle with a fun craft activity. Use this apple hat craft to make science and learning fun! They will love parading it around school when it’s done.
Apple Activity Booklet for Early Finishers
Having activities for those kids who do their work quickly can make helping other students easier. This Activity booklet includes a word search, color-by-number, coloring sheet, and apple orchard labeling activity.
It’s perfect for morning work, early finishers, or sub plans when in a pinch.
Apple-Themed Printable Games for Centers & Fun Fridays
Make learning feel like play with print-and-go apple games that are perfect for math centers, morning tubs, early finishers, or Fun Friday stations. These low-prep games build skills while keeping kids engaged!
Apple Eye-Spy
Practice visual discrimination and counting with a fun apple-themed Eye-Spy activity page. Kids can search, count, and tally different apple objects on the sheet.

Apple Roll & Color
This is a simple dice game that reinforces number recognition, subitizing, and fine motor skills. Students roll the die and color an apple with the corresponding number. Play continues until all of the apples are covered.
Apple Race Graphing Game
Use a paper spinner to land on a colored apple, then color a matching square on a graph. Kids race to see which object “wins” while practicing graphing, tallying, and turn-taking.
Everything You Need for a Sweet Apple Week
Use a combination of math, literacy, STEM, science, and crafts to engage students as they learn about apples and the apple life cycle. Discuss what they already know, what they want to learn, and what they learned at the end of the unit.
You can also incorporate an Apple Feelings Check-in Chart, where kids identify how they are feeling using clips. The chart displays various emotions so teachers can help students who need a boost. It also helps kids recognize their feelings, so they can better regulate them! Use the chart for morning check-ins or classroom management.
